Festival of the Lion King to Close for Six Months

According to wdwmagic.com, the latest issue of the Mickey Monitor, the publication sent to Annual Passholders, states that the Festival of the Lion King will close in January 2014 and not reopen in its new theater until July, a full six months later.  I am sourcing this report because I have not yet receive my copy of the Mickey Monitor, and the Winter edition was not available online at the time of posting this article.

We had been hearing rumors about such a lengthy closure.  And while the rumors all seemed to be well sourced, quite honestly, it was hard to believe.  Why build a new theater that can't open seamlessly, or at least close to seamlessly, with the closing of the current theater?  I am sure there are good reasons, but it is hard not to blame the amazingly long amount of time it now seems to take Imagineering to build and complete a project.
