The website wdwmagic.com is reporting this weekend that the Rivers of Light night time water show is on schedule to debut at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the spring of 2016, a bit later than most of us were hoping.
We have not received confirmation on this ourselves, but the information seems to fit into what we knew might hold up the show's introduction. From the very first time we heard of the Rivers of Light, we were hearing the biggest issue was not the show itself but the viewing area.
The Animal Kingdom has plenty of water for such a show, especially in the area in they are planning, right in front of Expedition Everest. But the vegetation and the size of walkways were purposely built to NOT have wide open areas and vistas. This is the biggest problem imagineers face. How do they open viewing areas to the water without disturbing the overall design of the park? Only time will tell...
