AKL Artifact Spotlight: the Nupe Pot

The Nupe people were originally from the northern areas of Nigeria. The origin of this ethic group dates backs to the 15th century along the Niger river. They are divided into subgroups. Some of these sub-tribes are mostly fisherman and traders. The others are traditionally farmers.

These pots were commonly used. In fact, whole walls in family dwellings would be lined with these pots, often containing the foods and liquids used by the family.
