Who misses Camp Minnie Mickey

Its been a couple of years since Camp Minnie Mickey went away. It closed on January 5, 2014 just over three years ago. So I will just put up some pictures of the old land....

Who remembers to sort of dragon on the site of the future Beastlie Kingdomme?

Avatar is getting ever so closer, so it's kind of fun to take a little look at the old days.

Photo of the Day: the Discovery River

One of my favorite spots on the Animal Kingdom. This pretty shot was taken just as you cross the bridge into Asia with Drinkwallah on your right.

We, of course, are looking forward to Rivers of Light (if that ever happens), but the theater does kind of spoil the tranquility of this portion of the Discovery River.

The Dangers of Africa

There are some great graphics along the Gorilla Falls trail. At the hippo exhibit, there is this gem showing 2 of the most dangerous animals in Africa.

The hippo is extremely unpredictable and territorial. So when small boats or other animals get close, they get angry, and in the water they are fast and dangerous. The nile crocodile is also dangerous and both these animals have been known to kill humans.

This is Donna's third calf, with the 2 previous babies born in 2005 and 2010. The herd now numbers 10 elephants with three males and seven females. Stella is on exhibit periodically be on the lookout.

Live animal demonstrations could include birds, reptiles and small mammals.

Episode 103 of Radio Harambe - Our 2017 DAK Wishlist

It's our first podcast of the New Year and that means we present our wishlist of what we would like to see at Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2017. Dave and Safari Mike each get six choices, 3 little, 2 medium, and one big and then they get to throw in a bonus wish for the rest of Walt Disney World. They also look back at how their repsective lists panned out from last year. If you have any questions or comments about the show, feel free to email us at jamboeveryone@gmail.com. Asante Sana and Happy New Year!

The guys also discussed the passing of their friend Alan Mize, and here is the link to a GoFundMe drive being held to benefit the college education for Alan's daughter. Thank you

Disney's Animal Kingdom News for January 4, 2017: Avatar date?

A potential opening date: WDWNT got a hold of Florida resident 3 and 4 day ticket offers. Often times, because these are significantly cheaper tickets, Disney blocks out dates such as around the Christmas holiday and spring break. This year the tickets are blocked out at the Animal Kingdom from May 27th until June 9th. Speculation is that the Memorial Day is the current target date for Pandora opening. Perhaps it is a bit of leap, but we shall see.

Album for 2017: I love Disney music. Who doesn't really? And Disney has plans to release the Rivers of Light and Awakenings show's scores on CD early next year. Be on the lookout for it, I've heard the music, it's fantastic.

Churros: Speaking of love, churros are back at Disney's Animal Kingdom after being gone for nearly a year. They can now be found at Dino Bites over in Dinoland.
