Rivers of Light nightly: Beginning this week, Rivers of Light begins a new schedule. That is, starting on April 9, the show will no longer be shown just 4 nights a week. Instead, it will become a daily event. This will be true at least through the summer, and likely well beyond. It does not rule out the possibility of the show cutting down performances during slow times of the year (such as September) but with Avatar set to open in 6 weeks or so, it seems likely Rivers of Light will remain daily for the foreseeable future.
Party for the Planet: I know we talk about our love for these special single day events but the park has another coming up to celebrate the launch of the new DisneyNature movie "Born in China." Of course, April 22 is Earth Day. The day before will be the Party for the Planet at the park. Activities centering around 2 of the stars of the movie, the snow leopard and the giant panda, will be found at the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Also, a portion of the ticket sales for the day will go to the World Wildlife Fund.
Not your typical Brazilian Tourist: At certain times of the year, the parks are filled with large tour groups from Brazil. Well, Disney is encouraging a different kind of Brazilian resident. Purple martins, a migratory bird, have some new homes near the parking lot at the park. Purple martins migrate from the amazon rain forest to Florida, and these new bird houses will hopefully encourage more of the birds to stay in the area. There have been other such birdhouses in the resort for about a decade.
